Building Stronger Nonprofits

The Association of Nonprofit Specialists is happy to announce a new member benefit. This month we will begin a series of newsletters providing valuable content to nonprofits and featuring the work of member consultants. We invite you to be a part of it!

The series, Building Stronger Nonprofits, is loosely based on the findings outlined in the book Forces for Good: The Six Practices of High-Impact Nonprofits. We will highlight one best-practice each month.

Your submissions may include case studies, videos, or educational pieces in any format. Featured works will give members exposure through our growing mailing list and our social media posts.

Here are the upcoming topics, find the one that best fits with your practice:

1. Embracing diversity. How to create a diverse and equitable organization. How to make inclusion and accessibility part of your existing vision and mission and to inspire all staff, board, and volunteers to share these values. How diversity enriches your organization.

2. Adapting to change. How to find your hidden creativity to discover solutions and adapt to circumstances. How to create a culture of innovation. How to create systems for evaluating, executing, and adapting ideas.

3. Nonprofits as advocates. How nonprofits can work together and separately for policy change. How to motivate your board, make connections in local and state government etc. How advocacy strengthens organizations.

4. Partnering with business. How a shared vision can create strong relationships between nonprofits, corporations, and local business. How social enterprise works for fund development.

5. Building a strong support team. How to recruit, inspire and maintain a strong volunteer force including board members and fundraisers who become evangelists for the organization. How to create a campaign that ignites interest and support.

6. Weaving a strong network. How and why to partner with other organizations. How to tap into existing networks. How to create a network map to identify existing connections and opportunities for new ones.

7. Nurturing leaders in your organization. How nonprofits benefit by empowering employees. How to build strong boards and executive teams to increase impact, ensure continuity and build strength. How to prepare future leaders and plan for succession.

Send your thoughts, links, and contributions in any format, to Nonprofit Specialists board member Merle Benny, merle@nonprofitchampion.com.
